Fiverr is an website that facilitates the buying buying and selling of services from other users for US$5.[2]
Mode of operation[edit | edit source]
For free, users can post services that they are talented at. Tasks performed range from inane such as the burning of a small effigy of the client's enemy, to practical tasks like checking for errors on a personal website.[2]
The website was created to facilitate requesting small tasks that would be too menial to solicite a contractor for.[2]
Fiverr chose to omit price negotiation from the site to keep transactions simple. It was determined that $5 would be the optimum price.[2]
History[edit | edit source]
The website was co-founded by Israeli entrepreneur Micha Kaufman who was inconvenienced by being unable to convert a chart in Microsoft Word into Excel form. Fiverr was launched in April 2011 and by mid-March had 5,000 gigs posted.[2]
